CS2 update, October 28, 2026: Silent Reload modes and fixes

What changed

  • Added an option to switch Silent Reload Mode between Hold and Toggle. With toggle enabled, once the silent reload starts you can let go of the reload button. To cancel a silent reload and go back to a fast reload, you can tap the reload button again.
  • Fixed various cases where the first sound of a reload was audible irrespective if a user requested a silent reload or not.\
  • Fixed a bug where liquid could render as black on AMD video cards
  • Fixed some sound and UI bugs when rewinding during demo playback

What it means for players and servers

The update adds greater flexibility to silent reload management. Players can now choose between Hold mode, which requires keeping the reload button pressed, and the new Toggle mode, allowing them to release the button after the animation starts. Bugs where the first reload sound played despite Silent Reload being enabled have been fixed, improving consistency for stealthy gameplay.

For community server administrators, the changes are primarily client-side. Players with personal settings will gain more control over audio feedback, which may affect comfort on public servers. Server configuration remains unchanged.

The patch also fixes a liquid rendering issue on AMD video cards and audio bugs during demo playback. This improves stability across a wider range of hardware and simplifies demo review.
